Splitting is best when you need smaller, targeted outputs for upload, review, or role-based delivery.
Mixed input like 1-5,8,12- can fail silently in other tools. Recheck ranges before export.
When page boundaries cut semantic blocks, reviewers may lose context. Keep adjacent pages together.
Rules like 2n+1 are powerful but easy to misread in scanned duplex files.
Split one annual PDF into monthly files so finance reviewers only receive relevant pages.
Extract the exact range and avoid uploading full source material.
Split first, then compress each output if needed for safer first-pass delivery.
Use Split PDF when:when you need multiple output files by range or per-page logic.
Use the other tool when:when you only want one cleaned file with a few pages removed.
Use Split PDF when:for repeatable split rules across many sections.
Use the other tool when:for one-off extraction of specific pages without broader split logic.
Use Split PDF when:when the output unit should become several separate files.
Use the other tool when:when output should stay as one file but with different page order.
Our PDF splitter tool allows you to extract specific pages or ranges from your PDF documents quickly and easily. Whether you need to split a large PDF into chapters, extract a few pages, or separate every page into individual files, our tool makes it simple and free.
With support for page ranges (1-5), specific pages (1,3,5), and even advanced formulas (2n+1 for odd pages), you have complete flexibility in how you split your documents.
Our tool offers five different splitting modes to suit any need. Extract specific page ranges for chapters, split every page into individual files, divide by intervals (every N pages), or use advanced formulas for complex patterns.
All split files are packaged into a convenient ZIP archive for easy download and organization. Your original PDF quality is preserved accurately in every extracted file.
PDF splitting is useful in many scenarios: extracting chapters from books or reports, sharing specific sections of documents, separating scanned multi-page documents, or breaking large files into smaller, more manageable pieces.
Our tool is perfect for students extracting course materials, professionals sharing specific report sections, businesses organizing documents, and anyone who needs precise control over their PDF files.
Use these routes when you are splitting for cleaner output, exact extraction, or upload-limit delivery.
Need only some pages
Good when you want a smaller subset instead of multiple chunks.
Open extract tool →Need a cleaner file
Use this when you want one final file with fewer pages, not many outputs.
Open remove tool →Splitting for delivery
Best when you split mainly to satisfy email or portal upload limits.
Open size route →Need workflow advice
Useful for range logic, chunk strategy, and file naming decisions.
Open guide →You can use ranges (1-5), specific pages (1,3,5), or combine both (1-10,15,20-25). For advanced users, formulas like 2n+1 (odd pages) or 3n (every 3rd page) are also supported.
The maximum file size is 50MB per PDF. This is sufficient for most documents, even those with hundreds of pages.
In most standard files, extracted pages keep the original layout, images, and text rendering. Very complex PDFs may still require a quick visual check.
Formulas use 'n' as the page number. For example, '2n' gives every 2nd page (2,4,6...), '2n+1' gives odd pages (1,3,5...), and '3n-1' gives pages (2,5,8...). The constant 'b' shifts the pattern.
When splitting creates multiple PDF files, we package them into a single ZIP archive for convenient download. Simply extract the ZIP file to access your individual PDFs.
Currently, password-protected PDFs cannot be processed. Please remove the password protection first, then split the file.
Split by delivery constraints, not only by page counts.
Before split
Define recipient and channel limits first, then decide split ranges.
During split
Avoid overlap and missing pages with a final coverage check.
After split
Use deterministic names so upload, review, and archive steps stay aligned.
Splitting quality is proven by retention accuracy and handoff readiness.
Move between guidance, constraints, and adjacent tools in one hop.
